It is pretty difficult to find good avocados in The Netherlands and as you know I always try to buy seasonal and sustainable products. A few weeks ago I decided to do some research about avocados, when are they in season? Where can I buy sustainable and organic avocados?
The answer is Crowdfarming, I found them a couple of years ago when I wanted to order oranges from Valencia in winter but I had no idea they also had avocados. Avocado season in Europe goes from October until May so I was just in time to get the last ones. So I ordered a box 🙂
Never heard of Crowdfarming?
Crowdfarming is a solution for farming created by farmers. They connect producers with customers, so you can get oranges, avocados, cheese, legumes, cereals and lots of other sustainable and organic produces directly from the field to your house.
It is an amazing solution to get organic fruits or vegetables in season.
I tried the avocados for the first time from Dehesa de Cútar and wont be the last one. Absolutely delicious.
Cost? I got a box with 2,5 kg of avocados, 12 avocados = 24,36 €. 2,03 per stuck. Shipping cost included. The quality is amazing!
Great avocados deserve great recipes, so do you 🙂
